We’d like to take this opportunity to provide an update on various changes within The Chef’s Bag.
Prices & Portions
As some of you know, we have not increased our prices since 2018, which has been a tremendous feat considering the escalating price of raw ingredients, dry goods, packaging, and petrol. We have not increased prices because we want to look after our clients’ pockets. The effects of Covid-19 can be seen and felt across the country, and we unfortunately are no exception to this.
You may have noticed a slight change in our portion size so that we can still accommodate our clients at the same reasonable price. Our prices are as little as R 76 per day for a single portion and even less for couples or 3-portion families, which includes a balanced dinner meal prepared fresh each day as well as delivery. We always aim to provide the best possible value for money, and we don’t believe in ‘shortchanging’ our clients, but we’ve had to compromise on portion size slightly to avoid increasing our prices.
Some clients have expressed the need to have bigger portions and are willing to pay extra for this, therefore we will be introducing ‘half portion’ meals, which can be added on to your existing meal order for the week at an additional cost of R 180 (Monday to Thursday). This way, each customer has a choice based on their unique budget! This option will commence on the 31st of May 2021.
Delivery Days & Kiddies Meals
Due to the current economic climate, lack of Friday orders, and increased overheads, The Chef’s Bag has decided to close for deliveries on Fridays. The last Friday delivery will be on the 28th of May 2021. If you have placed an order in advance for Fridays, we will contact you directly to provide a refund or extra portions to compensate for non-delivery. Similarly, we won’t be offering kiddies meals as a menu option going forward as it is unfortunately not viable to do so. Starting in the month of June, only Classic, Carb-Conscious, and Vegetarian/Vegan menu selections will be available.
We would like to reiterate the fact that delivery times are not guaranteed. There will be certain days where we cannot control factors such as supplier delivery of goods, loadshedding, and traffic jams. In the event where a driver is running unusually late, we will notify our customers accordingly. Our policy has always been that meals should arrive no later than 7 pm. If delivery has been constantly late, please do not hesitate to reach out to the office to find out if there is a different option available to you such as an alternative delivery address on an earlier route.
